Paige- The Latter Will Be Greater

We’ve survived another week in Madagascar.  Praise the Lord!  After the emotion and mind blowing conversations we had about faith and fady’s last week, I was excited to have a week filled with lighter (yet equally rewarding) events.  Today, Tiffany taught an English class at the church and I was her [lovely] assistant!  We wanted to teach them conversational vocabulary and so we started with greetings.  Teaching is Tiffany’s forte and it definitely showed.  She was all prepared with her index cards and her white board and dry erase marker; she even planned a game!  I was so proud to her friend and [lovely] assistant.  Mika (our Malagasy language teacher) agreed to come to the class to help translate, but he was running late so we had to start without him.  It was rough start.  When we found out Mika wasn’t going to be there to begin the class with us, I looked at Tiffany and said, “This is going to be hard.”  We know a lot of Malagasy (a whole 2 weeks worth) but when it comes to making sentences and organizing thoughts, it doesn’t always happen.  Let me be honest…it never really happens because Mika is usually there and we rely on him.  We got through it though and by the time Mika arrived we had already got the ball rolling, for the most part.
As I’m writing this I’m smiling because I’m sure God got a kick out how anxious we were when Mika didn’t show up on time.  There is a verse that hangs in the front of our church that says: “Koa na dia kely aza no niandohanao dia ho lehibe indrindra no hiafaranao” this means “And though your beginning was small, your latter days will be very great” Job 8:7.  There are so many lessons in this verse and we were able to see them play out in the English class tonight.  We shouldn’t rely on Mika more than we rely on God.  God always provides, no matter how trivial the matter may seem (like teaching an English class for fun). A total of 18 people came to the class and they all left knowing how to properly greet one another in American English. We started slow but we were able to sprint to the finish.  Looking at the bigger picture of our overall trip, I believe that we are gaining momentum and we are beginning to establish some important relationships that will allow us to share His Gospel and His Love with the Antaimoro people.  I am confident that our latter days will be very great and I know that God will continue to be faithful and will continue to give us whatever we need along the way. He is GOOD.

For The Kingdom,
